The internship
Are you passionate about sustainable cities, logistics, and urban policies? As a Sustainable Urban Freight Intern, you’ll explore how goods move through cities and how companies can adapt their fleets meet low- and zero-emission zones related policies and regulations. This internship is perfect for students in urban planning, logistics, environmental studies, or public policy who want to make a real-world impact.
Scope and the main areas of work for this internship:
- Research & Analysis: Investigate international policies and regulations related to zero- and low-emission zones, and identify related trends shaping the future of urban freight. Also to review previous research and analysis results of HEINEKEN.
- Benchmarking: Analyze best practices both within the company and externally — what are other leading companies doing to adapt?
- Recommendations: Develop actionable insights and proposals on how the company can systematically approach sustainable freight logistics, including governance, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory alignment.
Approach:
- There is no specific project that the intern would need to contribute to. The output of this internship would be a base for: (1) future guidance and/or (2) best practice database, and/o (3) country/region specific recommendations.
- The exact methodology and approach are to be determined in collaboration with the intern, and, where possible, with the supervisors of the intern.
- The intern would work in the Global Customer Service and Logistics team of HEINEKEN, under the supervision of the Net Zero Logistics, Global Lead. Furthermore it would also engage with some of HEINEKEN’s local Operating Companies.

The department
You’ll find the Global Customer Service and Logistics team at HEINEKEN to be a welcoming and enthusiastic group to work with. The team fosters a supportive culture where people help each other and aren’t afraid to give honest, constructive feedback. The scope of the internship would call for collaboration with Operating Companies (OpCos) of HEINEKEN, and also with the European regional team.
